It is surrounded by the Nubib, Tsaris and Naukluft mountains with views of the dunes in the west. In this exquisite location, you will be accommodated in simple but stylish stone chalets, built from the local occurring rock. Accommodation is in 16 well furnished chalets which ffer an en-suite bathroom with shower and toilet.
A Little Sossus Lodge will ensure you an unforgettable stay in the tranquil desert surroundings. Relax under the African sky and enjoy a drink of your choice and then delight your palate with our African cuisine while the sun is setting. The main area of the lodge is an old farmhouse converted into a homely meeting place where you will experience a friendly and welcoming ambience. All areas are open plan inviting guests to wander around freely. On the well sheltered verandah you can enjoy your breakfast, lunch and dinner. The cozy lounge is decorated with ethnic African décor and comfortable leather sofas.
Guests enjoy relaxing and cooling off around the pool in front of the main building. A Little Sossus Lodge offers scrumptious African cuisine with fresh produce from their own gardens. Special dietary requirements are catered for.
The lights and fans in the chalets are powered by a bank of batteries, which are charged by wind and generator during the daytime. All amenities (soaps, shampoo, body lotion etc.) are environmental friendly. Twelve chalets are furnished with twin beds. Four chalets are family units comprising of four beds each. |

Enjoy the peaceful atmosphere at the swimming pool or discover the surrounding area on foot or horseback. A squash court, pool table and a bar are at your disposal. Auob Lodge is easily accessible by road or plane. The private landing strip is suitable for various size planes.

Camp Syncro is a unique safari camp for individualists, situated right on the banks of the Kunene river at the end of the Marienfluss valley. It can be reached only by 4x4 vehicle within a day's drive from either Opuwo or Sesfontein. It is the only camp in that region.
The houses are built from river stones and covered with thatched roofs. Peacefully secluded, they stand under big Ana trees. A unique atmosphere is created by the subtle background rush of the river, the recurrent clacking of cattle and goat hooves on the pebble stones and the warbling of the mourning dove in the trees.
The camp is mainly powered by solar energy. Houses are designed to be comfortable and functional. Each of the four huts is equipped with its own water fountain and two beds, which allows for a maximum of eight guests. Two separate showers and two toilets warrant the necessary privacy.
Ideally, a visiting group consists of four people. Regardless of your number, however, you will always enjoy the privilege of staying exclusively at Camp Syncro and receive individual attention. Unless arrangements have been made accordingly, you will not meet other guests at the camp during your stay.
Enjoy the solitude and timeless beauty of a magnificent landscape, the daily activities of the Ovahimba tribe, life in and along the river, magic circles and stary nights...
It is advisable to spend at least two, better three nights at the camp in order to fully benefit from the various aspects of our daily programmes.
Your host, Koos Verwey, has been living in the Marienfluss for the past eight years and thus gained intimate and extensive knowledge of the area and its inhabitants. You will be able to take advantage of his in-depth experience when meeting with the Ovahimba, driving or strolling through the sidevalleys of the Marienfluss or taking a bath in a natural whirlpool next to the rapids. |
